Why do Vespas cost so much more than other scooters?

Because people buy Vespas for the name. You can buy a Piaggio, which owns Vespa and uses the exact same components minus the name tag for much cheaper. Vespas are not anymore reliable or better quality than Japanese scooters. They just look cuter.
